RADIX MEDIA / CHRIS CAUTHEN

I’m a producer, engineer, and lifelong sound artist based in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. For over three decades, I’ve helped musicians, performers, and storytellers bring their vision to life through audio—both in studio and on stage.

My connection to sound runs deeper than craft. Before I could speak, I lost the use of my hearing. It delayed my speech and learning, but also shaped the way I experience the world. After a series of childhood surgeries restored my hearing, I became fascinated by audio—and I’ve been listening intently ever since. I started recording everything I could with a toy tape machine as a small child, and I never stopped.

I run a private, home-based recording studio built for focus and depth—a space where experienced artists can create meaningful work without distraction. For larger projects, I also have access to professional studios in both Bartlesville and Tulsa, depending on the client’s needs. I collaborate remotely and am available as a hired engineer or producer in any commercial studio.

Beyond music production, I offer voiceover recording, post-production sound editing, color grading, videography, and video editing services. My work appears on IMDb, I’ve contributed to Emmy Award–winning television, and I’m a contributing member of the Recording Academy (Grammys), helping guide artists through the submission process with both technical and creative insight.

I’ve worked with high-profile individuals and understand the discretion, professionalism, and calm communication required in those environments. Whether supporting a public figure, executive, or seasoned artist, I know how to show up prepared and let the work speak for itself.

Alongside my creative work, I bring decades of experience as an IT professional and people leader in the corporate world. That background informs everything I do—balancing precision, empathy, and respect for time and process.

I operate through Radix Media LLC, a boutique production house I founded to help artists and professionals pursue their creative goals with clarity and confidence. I’m also connected to a trusted network of engineers, musicians, videographers, graphic artists, directors, and producers. If I’m not the right fit for your project, someone in the Radix network likely is—and I’m happy to help make that connection.

What Matters to Me

Sincerity – I’d rather work on something real than something trendy.
Craft – The details matter. Mic choice, mix decisions, the energy in the room.
Respect – I protect the creative space. That means no chaos, no substances, no flakiness.
Legacy – Whether it’s a voiceover, a record, or a full-length album—it should hold up 20 years from now.

Where I Work

  • Local: My home studio in Bartlesville, Oklahoma

  • Remote: Mixing, mastering, post-production, and VO from anywhere in the world

  • Mobile: Available for hire in any commercial studio as a producer, engineer, or collaborator

What I Use (and Know)

People often ask about the gear I use—truth is, I’m comfortable on any console, analog rig, or outboard gear. I got my start in a commercial studio recording to tape, then transitioned through digital tape into the world of computer-based production. Over the years, I’ve contributed to plugin development and have a deep understanding of digital audio processing.

I’m fluent in multiple DAWs—Pro Tools, Logic Pro, LUNA, Ableton Live, Cubase, Nuendo, and Reaper—and I move seamlessly between analog and digital, or both depending on what the project calls for.
